OCCUPATION AND SPATIAL ORGANISATION DURING THE LATE IRON AGE
IN THE CROULD BASIN (VAL-D’OISE):

from an archaeological and geoarchaeological perspective

Abstract

Occupation modes and geographical structuration of settlements can be ascertained from their high density during the Late Iron Age. Using an archaeological and geoarchaeological approach, we have been able to describe occupations dating from the early La Tène to the Augustinian period using, on the one hand, different settlement types and structures and on the other, by understanding the spatial relationship between enclosures and the key features of the surrounding territory such as road networks. The digging of a network of ditches during the Middle La Tène constitutes the first visible organisation of the landscape. A chronological overview of the exploitation of these micro-territories will be presented in this paper.
