Véronique ZECH-MATTERNE, Marie DERREUMAUX CONTRIBUTION OF THE CARPOLOGICAL OVERVIEW OF THE CROULD VALLEY DURING THE IRON AGE TO OUR KNOWLEDGE OF REGIONAL VEGETAL PRODUCTIONS

Abstract

Archaeobotanical studies of 14 sites dating from the early La Tène to the Roman have enabled us to follow the evolution of vegetal productions in the Crould valley over this period. It reveals to be identical to what has already been observed on a regional scale. The intensive polyculture of the middle La Tène evolves into a more extensive cereal culture based on barley and to a lesser extent on emmer with a predominance hulled wheat from the La Tène D2. Carpological remains from the Crould valley include some discoveries such as a plant used in textile dying from the Roissy-en-France "ZAC de la Demi Lune", in the Val-d’Oise or the early mention of cultivated grapes.
