Jean-Gabriel PARIAT, Caroline M. RENARD, Angélique POLLONI A NEW READING OF A LATE NEOLITHIC GALLERY GRAVE: |
Abstract
The gallery grave of "Cimetière aux Anglais" in Vauréal (Val-d'Oise) is located near the first meander in the Oise river, upstream of the Seine-Oise confluence. The site is located in an area of the Paris Basin that was densely occupied during the late Neolithic. Recent studies have shed new light on this site. The image is that of a monument used during a long period, as is the case with 30 % of gallery graves in the west of the Paris area. The study of burial practices using the human remains is very limited, as archaeological records are poor. It highlights the lack of data for this sector of the Paris basin and the need for the corpus to be enriched by new discoveries.
