Abstract

The excavation at Montévrain (Seine-et-Marne) "Le Clos Rose" has brought to light vestiges dating to the Late Bronze Age / Early Iron Age and to the beginning of the La Tène period. Pre-Roman structures including a building and several post-holed granaries within a quadrangular enclosure surrounded by a double ditch were also discovered. During the 1st-3rd century AD, the settlement is structured around buildings with stone foundations, wells, and hearths enclosed in a new series of ditches. The most recent settlement dates to the Merovingian period (7th-8th century). In conjunction with the study of pottery and animal bone, palaeoenvironment studies have also been undertaken.
