Yves LE BÉCHENNEC A "RATTLE" FROM THE GALLIC CEMETERY OF BOBIGNY (SEINE-SAINT-DENIS) |
Abstract
The burial of a mature adult that included a number of unusual objects was excavated in 2004 at the heart of an important Gallic cemetery in Bobigny. The tomb can be dated to the 3rd century BC (La Tène B2). An enigmatic object found in association with the heel of a spear suggests that it was part of a spearhead. A copy of the very same object made by a blacksmith confirms that it was used to produce a rattling sound.
