Florence MORET-AUGER AN UNKNOWN OR HYBRID DENARIUS OF THE EMPEROR HADRIAN |
Abstract
A denarius of the Emperor Hadrian for Caesar Antoninus Pius was discovered at Souzy-la-Briche, a site located within a triangle formed by the towns of Dourdan, Arpajon and Étampes in a deep valley-bottom through which meanders the “La Renarde” stream (western tributary of the river Orge). Archaeological trenching prior to housing development was carried out on the "Le Pré Cloud" site, given the proximity of probable farm buildings presumably related to the remarkable Gallo-roman villa at "La Cave Sarrazine".
