HIGH MEDIEVAL POTTERY (11th-12th CENTURIES)
FROM THE SOUTH OF THE YVELINES:

Sites at Bullion (rue de Noncienne) and Somchamp (national road 10 bypass)

Abstract

The habitat sites at Bullion and Sonchamp, located in the south of the Yvelines department, are chiefly of interest because of the short period of occupation. Consequently, the pottery assemblages, though relatively limited, are very homogeneous and enable a precise description of the wares and types most frequent from the middle of the 9th century to the beginning of the 12th century in this hitherto poorly-documented geographical area. The wares inventoried have primarily fine, light-coloured sandy fabrics used to produce collared-rimmed pots, pouring pots and tubularspouted jugs.
