Jean-Marc SÉGUIER, Nathalie GINOUX, Patrice MÉNIEL AN EARLY LA TÈNE SETTLEMENT AT THE "CHÂTEAU" ROISSY-EN-FRANCE (VAL-D’OISE)

Abstract

The excavation of a small group of storage pits on the Roissy-en-France "Château" site has brought to light the existence of an Early La Tène settlement. The abundant pottery finds date the site to the La Tène B2 typology phase of the North of the Paris Basin. The finds as well as the domestic refuse define the site as a rural installation that includes day to day activities such as agricultural production, rearing, weaving, spinning, etc, but also iron and bronze working. This settlement can be set in the framework of the rising aristocracy that develops in the Parisii territory around the 4th and 3rd century BC. One of the pits contained human remains and weapons that belong to the ritual activities of the settlement
