Lamys HACHEM, Juliette DURAND A LATE BRONZE AGE AUROCHS FOUND IN A PIT IN PALAISEAU (ESSONNE) |
Abstract
The remains of an aurochs have been discovered in a narrow and deep pit at Palaiseau "Les Trois Mares" on the Saclay plateau. The stratigraphy and morphology of the pit indicate that it was adjusted and the study of the bones indicate specific practices such as the cutting of pieces meat directly from the animal. Without no datable finds, a radiocarbon analysis of the bone indicates the end of the second millennium. This pit appears to be isolated, on the site as the main occupation dates to the Middle Neolithic II and on the Saclay plateau.
