Ivan LAFARGE, Arnaud RÉMY MONITORING OF WORKS IN AND AROUND THE SAINT-MÉDARD CHURCH IN TREMBLAY-EN-FRANCE (SEINE-SAINT-DENIS): A Contribution to Understanding the Monument and its Place within the Village Context

Abstract

From 2004 to 2007 the Saint-Médard de Tremblay church was the object of a grand scale renovation project that was combined with an archaeological survey. The survey has shed light on the building’s evolution from the Middle Ages to the 18th century, with the discovery of a portion dating from the 12th century which has revealed the transfer of the building’s volume from the Renaissance period. These observations have also contributed to understanding the structure of the medieval village and in particular the complex chronological and spatial relationship between the church and the manor farm to the south and the cemetery to the north.
