LATE IRON AGE INSTRUMENTUM:
the example of the Crould valley

Abstract

Instrumentum is rare on Late Iron Age rural settlements. Luckily, the multiplication of excavations during the last 30 years has made this first overview of the Crould valley possible. The study is divided into two parts. Firstly, a presentation of the corpus as a catalogue that underlines the range of activities that have been documented. Secondly, a more general discussion of the importance of these objects in understanding the local rural population. The question of specialisation or the polyvalence of settlements and the relative affluence of the populations will also be touched on.
