Benjamin VAN DEN BOSSCHE A LATE HALLSTATT OCCUPATION ON THE BANKS OF THE RIVER SEINE |
Abstract
An open agricultural settlement dating from the late 6th or the beginning of the 5th century BCE has been discovered at Mureaux (Yvelines) during an evaluation led by the local archaeological service of the Yvelines county council. The occupation consists of several loosely structured poles of features located around a probable building with annexes used for the various subsistence activities of the settlement. The spatial and stratigraphical coherence of the features indicate that they are all contemporary.
The general organisation of the site and the finds are similar to that of other settlements of the period in the Yvelines and the Val-d’Oise. It reveals the probable existence of specialised activities in distinct areas of the site.
