EARLY BRONZE AGE BURIALS AND POTTERIES FROM MEAUX
"Route de Varreddes / Chemin de Flandre" (Seine-et-Marne)

Abstract

Three burials from the Late Neolithic site of "Route de Varredes / Chemin de Flandre" in Meaux (North Seine-et-Marne) were radiocarbon dated to the Early Bronze age. The site also included a few pottery sherds from this period. The present study aims to shed new light on funerary practices of a little known period in the Marne valley. This small group of Early Bronze age burials complicates somewhat the funerary context defined through other discoveries made in the area: the reusing of collective burials, monumental ring ditches and burials found in domestic contexts.
