THE CHÂTEAU OF LAUNOY-RENAULT AT VERDELOT (SEINE-ET-MARNE):
contribution of an archaeological evaluation to what we know
of the local rural elites to the east of Paris during Modern Times

Abstract

The archaeological survey carried out in 2014 by Inrap at the Château de Launoy-Renault in Verdelot (Seine-et-Marne) has provided new data for a historical and archaeological overview of small rural elite settlements dating to the Modern Period (15th-18th century), in a part of the Île-de-France region where there are few examples. The social and hierarchical criteria used in a recent PhD provide the key for understanding the site.
