TWO MEDIEVAL POLYCHROME STATUES:
discovered in the church of Saint-Étienne in Mareil-Marly (Yvelines)

Abstract

In late 2017, archaeological evaluation in the church of Saint-Etienne in Mareil-Marly (Yvelines) led to the discovery of two polychrome statues of exceptional quality dating from the end of the medieval period. The statues, which were being restored when this article was first drafted in late 2019, were afforded historic monument protection in 2020 and have since been reinstalled in the church.
