Abstract

The Early La Tène settlement is centred on the polyculture of various crops for local consumption and artisanal activities. The burials of young children with animals sheds light on ritual activities within the domestic sphere. The Late La Tène D2 rural establishment is orientated towards agricultural activities and livestock rearing. It is specialised in the production of hulled wheat. This crop becomes prominent during the following centuries as a regional specialisation of the Paris basin, which sees all manner of settlements contributing to the mass production of this easily processed wheat suitable for bread making. It is probable that these specific crops provided stables for the surrounding towns. This settlement as well as other settlements in the area are part of this process.
