COOKING IN THE ILE-DE-FRANCE:
Changes in Earthen-Ware Cooking-Pots in the 18th and early 19th Centuries

Abstract

The chronological attribution of late-modern and early-contemporary layers excavated on sites in the Ile-de-France has long suffered from the lack of an established pottery reference framework. The present article uses the numerous recent archaeological finds to offer a preliminary marker for the evolution of certain culinary crockery during the 18th and early 19th centuries. The cooking-pot provides a clear demonstration of these changes.
