La RAIF partage les vives inquiétudes de la communauté scientique française sur la future loi de programmation pluriannuelle de la recherche (LPPR)
et promeut les valeurs de coopération et d’indépendance qui font la richesse de la recherche publique.

The Revue archéologique d'Île-de-France (RAIF), a regional scientifique periodical edited by the "Les Amis de la RAIF" association, was first published in 2008. Its aim is to publish preventive and programmed archaeological research in the Ile-de-France area from the Palaeolithic to modern times.

The RAIF is financially supported by the Regional Direction of Cultural Affaires (DRAC) and by some local councils and Inrap and is distinguished by the institutional multiplicity of the archaeologists behind its creation and its everyday running.

The editorial board decides the periodical's general policy and a peer review system guarantees the quality of the papers it publishes. They are made up of professional archaeologists (from regional and local archaeology services, Inrap, CNRS, Natural History Museum and Universities) and amateur archaeologists that provide the necessary independence for the flourishing research within the pages of the revue.

The dynamic archaeological activity in the Ile-de-France area was one of the main incentives in the revue's creation, the aim of which was to provide a regional platform to archaeologists for the publication and diffusion of their work.
